Master Sergeant (MSG) William O. Gray Jr enlisted into the Army in 2003 and holds the mission occupational specialty (MOS) 11Z, Senior Infantry Sergeant. Upon graduating Basic Combat and Advanced Individual training, MSG Gray was assigned to Division Support Command 1st Infantry Division out of Kitzingen Germany. While assigned, he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) II where he served primarily as a heavy machine gunner for his combat logistic patrol security detachment.
In 2005, MSG Gray was reassigned to the 4th Combat Sustainment Brigade (Expeditionary) out of Fort Hood Texas where he again deployed in support of OIF IV. From 2007 to 2011, MSG Gray was stationed at Schofield Barracks Hawaii with the 2nd Battalion 27th Infantry Regiment, where he served as a Fire Team leader, Rifle Squad Leader, and Weapons Squad Leader. While assigned, he deployed two additional times in support the Iraqi Surge and Iraqi Sovereignty Campaigns, conducting full spectrum counterinsurgency operations.
MSG Gray's additional assignments include Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course (IBOLC) Instructor with 2nd Battalion 11th Infantry Regiment at Fort Benning Georgia, Rifle Platoon Sergeant and Battalion Assistant Operations Sergeant with 1st Battalion 38th Infantry Regiment at Fort Carson Colorado, Non-commissioned Officer Professional Development Curriculum Developer with the Army University's Instructional Design Division at Fort Leavenworth Kansas, and Rifle Company First Sergeant of Bravo Company 2nd Battalion 14th Infantry Regiment at Fort Drum New York. He is currently assigned as the Senior Military Science Instructor of the Army ROTC program here at ¹ÏÉñÍø.
MSG Gray is a graduate of the Basic Airborne Course, Air Assault Course, Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Course, Master Resilience Trainer Course, Common Faculty Development (CFD) Instructor Course, CFD Developer Course, CFD Course Author Course, Stryker Leader Course, Company Commander/First Sergeant Course, Basic Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Senior Leader Course, and Master Leader Course. He also holds a B.S. in Organizational Leadership from the University of Charleston.
