The inaugural Monarch Short-Film Festival, featuring works from students and alumni, will take place Feb. 17 at the University Theatre from 7 to 9 p.m. Submissions are open through Jan. 30 and must be entered through FilmFreeway using .
Films must be 20 minutes or less and have been completed between January 2022 and the end of this month.
For the students, its a really good opportunity for them to showcase their work, said Carolina Conte, senior lecturer in communication and theatre arts and interim director of 圖朸厙s film program. Even just the process of submitting work to a festival is one of the best ways to develop your career in film.
A jury of film program faculty will decide winners in five categories: best fiction, best documentary, best animation, best alumni and best overall student film.
The judges will select several films to feature at the festival, and a Best Student Film by Popular Vote will be determined by the festival audience.
