Dr. Juan M. Montero II, MD, FACS, was appointed to the Board of Visitors on July 1, 2023, by Governor Glenn Youngkin.
- Born on May 18, 1942 in Bayabas, Surigao del Sur, Mindanao Philippines at the evacuation area where family was hiding from Japanese invaders.
- June 27, 1966 Came to Norfolk, Virginia to pursue post graduate training in General Surgery at De Paul Hospital and Thoracic Surgery Fellowship at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
- 1970 Married to Mary Ann Goodsell - 4 sons: Dan, Greg, Andy, Paul and 11 grandchildren.
- 1972 Associate partner of thoracic surgeon Dr. William S. Hotchkiss, President of the American Medical Association, 1987-88. Practiced General and Thoracic surgery until 2007.
- 1968 Attended Mexico City Summer Olympic Games and slept overnight at Olympic Village.
