Jamie Colwell is an Associate Professor of Literacy in the Darden College of Education. She received her Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction, Literacy from Clemson University in 2012. Her research interests include disciplinary literacy, teacher education in literacy, and the uses of technology to promote literacy.

Dr. Colwell's research focuses on digital and disciplinary literacy, integrating disciplinary literacy into teacher education, sustained professional development to support teachers' integration of disciplinary literacy, the use of online discussion platforms to promote critical thinking, and qualitative and design-based research.
