Please join us in extending congratulations to Dr. Jeff Moe, who was recently selected by the American Counseling Association (ACA) as the 2024 recipient of the ACA Fellows Award. He is one of three recipients of this award nationally.
The American Counseling Association has annually recognized achievement and excellence in professional counseling. The American Counseling Association Fellows Award acknowledges ACA members of professional distinction for significant and unique contributions to the counseling profession on a national level. ACA Fellows have a record of demonstrated success, and their work has an enduring impact. While the quantity of one's work (e.g., the number of leadership positions, publications, classes taught, clients served) can be an important factor, this award recognizes those who have gone beyond quantity and provided quality work that has influenced, changed, and significantly advanced the counseling profession and/or counselor practices through their professional practice; scholarly achievement; leadership and governance; and/or teaching, training, supervision and mentoring.Â
Throughout his career, Dr. Moe's main scholarship focus has been LGBTQ issues in Counseling. His scholarship has appeared in numerous journals. He has served as president of the Virginia Association for LGBT Issues in Counseling, and in 2022, Dr. Moe began serving as the Editor in Chief of the Journal of LGBTQ Issues in Counseling, an international peer-reviewed journal. In the Spring of 2017, Dr. Moe received the ¹ÏÉñÍø President's Diversity Award for advocacy with and on behalf of LGBTQ communities.
Dr. Moe is currently an Associate Professor at ¹ÏÉñÍø in Norfolk, Virginia. He lives in Norfolk with his life partner of 14 years and their two dogs. Dr. Moe will be recognized for this prestigious award in April at the 2024 National Awards during the ACA Conference in New Orleans.
