Libraries: To Arrive Where We Started
The Friends of the ¹ÏÉñÍø Libraries present Peter Eudenbach, Associate Professor of Art at ¹ÏÉñÍø.
Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 7:00 PM at the Learning Commons @ Perry Library, Rooms 1310-1311.
Professor Eudenbach will speak about libraries and their mission to continue the dissemination of knowledge and the exploration of ideas, including information about his 2012 exhibit in Newport, Rhode Island -- To Arrive Where We Started.
The giant stainless steel mirror mounted on the pediment of the oldest part of the Redwood Library and Athenaeum (built in 1747-49) was the opening piece of Peter Eudenbach's exhibit. Using the historic architecture of the building, as well as art, artifacts and books from their collections, Professor Eudenbach displayed objects in spaces throughout the building to create a dialogue between the past and present.
The exhibit was made possible by grants from the ¹ÏÉñÍø Office of Research and the Rhode Island Council on the Humanities.
