Signature Authority & Agreement Negotiation
The ¹ÏÉñÍø Research Foundation is the office authorized by ¹ÏÉñÍø to propose and accept grants, contracts, and other agreements from external sponsors and to execute other types of funded agreements that are connected to active sponsored projects.Â
The Office of Innovation Commercialization will execute research related agreements that are unfunded and not connected to an active sponsored project, such as teaming agreements and memorandums of understanding with partners where unfunded or funded research or development is anticipated.
Documents requiring signatures must be reviewed and signed by an authorized representative located in the ¹ÏÉñÍø Research Foundation or the Division of Research and Economic Development. DO NOT SIGN any documents, or communicate any financial or institutional commitments unless it has been reviewed and approved by the ¹ÏÉñÍø Research Foundation or ¹ÏÉñÍø's Office of Innovation Commercialization.ÌýÌý
All proposed contracts, agreements and awards, and their modifications, must be routed through the ¹ÏÉñÍø Research Foundation before it can officially begin the negotiation process.
- If a sponsor does not require the use of its template, the ¹ÏÉñÍø Research Foundation can supply templates or draft custom agreements to fit your research agreement needs. To obtain Research Foundation agreement drafting services, please contact the ¹ÏÉñÍø Research Foundation at preaward@odu.edu, or if Medical Campus, at RFHSCPreaward@odu.edu.ÌýÌý
- It is preferred that the ¹ÏÉñÍø Research Foundation's templates are used if possible, however, if the sponsor requires the use of its template, the Research Foundation can accommodate although please note that the negotiation and review process will take a bit longer.ÌýÌý
