Assessment Advisory Committee

Provides leadership and recommendations on the quality and implementation of student learning outcomes assessment at ¹ÏÉñÍø. Faculty on the committee will examine issues and solutions related to, but not limited to, academic assessment support, resources, and processes.

Eminent Scholars Committee

Reviews the nomination packets of faculty candidates for the Eminent Scholar designation and submits recommendations to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs.

This committee comprises one Eminent Scholar from each college selected by the College Promotion and Tenure Committee and one Faculty Senate representative.

Three-year (recommended by policy)

General Education Assessment Committee (GEAC)

Coordinates the assessment of general education. The Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment recommends committee members.

This committee comprises Associate Deans of Undergraduate Studies from each college and one Faculty Senate representative.

Reviews proposals submitted by students in the Interdisciplinary Studies degree program.

The purpose of this committee is to establish overall policy and guidelines for the implementation and expansion of OER course materials.

Reviews nominations for:

  • SCHEV Outstanding Faculty Awards and recommends those that should be forwarded to SCHEV

Prior Learning Assessment Committee

Reviews policies and procedures related to prior learning assessment.

Robert Doherty, Division of Digital Transformation and Technology

Research Conflict of Interest Committee

Responsible for the oversight and management of potential conflicts of interest on the part of the University's employees and the institution itself related to the Research Conflict of Interest Policy, and it reviews conflicts related to technology transfer activities involving licensed start-up companies.

Committee membership consists of a broad spectrum of University faculty and staff members involved in a cross-section of research disciplines, and administrators responsible for purchasing.

The COIC also includes representation from the Division of Research and Economic Development and the non-University community.

Representatives from the ¹ÏÉñÍø Research Foundation (¹ÏÉñÍøRF) and the Office of University Counsel serve as ex officio, non-voting members.

Undergraduate Continuance Committee

Responsible for reviewing suspension appeals and is intended to bring greater consistency to the suspension appeals procedure.Ìý

College representatives should be tenured faculty.

Undergraduate Research Committee

The purpose of this committee is to develop and implement initiatives related to the undergraduate research symposium, the undergraduate research journal, and undergraduate research apprenticeships and review undergraduate research grant proposals and awards related to undergraduate research activity.

Committee members will also review undergraduate research grant proposals and awards related to undergraduate research activity.

Individuals appointed should be faculty members who serve as mentors for undergraduate researchers or who are interested in spurring undergraduate research activity in their college.

Undergraduate Student Academic Policies & Procedures Committee

Reviews current University standards, rules, and procedures governing undergraduate education and makes recommendations to strengthen and simplify these standards, rules, and procedures. The committee is often asked to provide recommendations on policies and procedures, especially as they relate to undergraduate students.

Membership from the colleges should include the chair of the College Undergraduate Curriculum Committee as one of the two representatives.ÌýÌý

University Arts Council

The purpose of this committee is to:

  1. Bring together campus stakeholders to emphasize and strategically develop both immediate and long-term arts programming and opportunities for the ¹ÏÉñÍø community.
  1. Review existing programming and identify opportunities for better integrating the arts into the fabric of the University and its surrounding communities.
  1. Inform the ¹ÏÉñÍø community about the resources available for students, faculty, and visiting artists, arrange and promote upcoming arts events and partnerships, identify opportunities for fundraising related to the arts, and encourage collaborative arts programming across the University and the community.

  • University Distinguished Teacher designation
  • Adjunct Faculty Teaching Award.Ìý

This committee comprises one full-time faculty member from each college who holds either the University Professor or University Distinguished Teacher designation and is selected by the College Promotion and Tenure Committee.

This committee’s purpose is to review, develop, and support honors opportunities for academically accomplished students.

University Scholarship Committee

Selects recipients for a number of student scholarships and awards.

University Writing Council

Brings together campus stakeholders to prioritize and celebrate writing at ¹ÏÉñÍø. Members will work together to inform the ¹ÏÉñÍø community about the resources available for student and faculty writers, educate the ¹ÏÉñÍø community about ethical and effective writing placement, instructions, tools, and assessment, and encourage creative, collaborative, and innovative approaches to writing across the University.
